Matt and Kristy’s Camping and Canoeing Trip July 2011
We took along our good friends
Dave and Jason of Smokin’ Good BBQ. Needless to say all of the campfire
food was amazing. So if you hear a crazy rumor about Matt the vegetarian eating a
steak or something like that… There may be some truth to it.
Our first night we stopped at Dave’s Grandpa Sunny’s place, which happens to be right on the Muskingum river.
Camping at the Knowlton Covered Bridge Park
Then we spent the next two nights at the
Knowlton Covered Bridge Park off of SR26. Having the
Knowlton Covered Bridge as a backdrop made the
Knowlton Covered Bridge Park and a breath taking campsite.
The Knowlton Covered Bridge is 192 feet long making it the second largest covered bridge in Ohio. The pavilion made a great lunch area, combined with the wooded setting it was an amazing campsite.
Canoeing with M & D Horses, Canoes, and Kayaks
The Little Muskingum Creek was much more sacluded then any other
canoe ride I have ever been on. We went on the 4 mile ride: I never saw one house or business. The closest thing to civiliasation I saw was three cows in a field near the river. Our group only saw one other canoe all day. This was a nice retreat other places where we have canoed in the past that had hundreds of
canoes, kayaks, and tubes all in the water at the same time. With people who did not know how to are paddle crashing into each other, and making it hard not to get smashed into a canoe pile up.
My friends, wife, and I would all like to extend our thanks to Mike, and his team for providing up such a wonderful canoe ride.
